Third full album for Zonk't, following his remarkable "Itching" on Brume Records. This French act (former member of Nox) presents another very well-written album made of ultra-deep basses, flowing atmospheres, small clicks'n'cuts, and a rather massive sound. Ranging from smooth, minimal dub pulses to drone-oriented, ultra-deep bass, "Purr" takes distilled techno under the microscope and well below freezing with its infinitesimal examination of slow-motion electronic minimalism. It is a work of astonishingly deep character, with an undeniable undercurrent of unease.
